Hello, CCH community! My name is Asia. I have been working with children for the past 8 years. I started babysitting for family friends as a teenager which grew into a professional nanny career all throughout college. After college, I started working at CCH as a lead preschool teacher. I currently have a bachelor’s degree in nonfiction writing with an associate in early childhood education from Columbia College Chicago. I am currently working on my master’s degree in early childhood education on a teacher licensure track with a focus in administration and SPED from Erikson Institute. I have goals of being a children's book author, daycare owner, CPS SPED teacher, and elementary school principal. I believe as educators our goal is to create an environment where students are kind, caring, and develop a love for learning at a young age.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing, taking nature photos, spending time in nature, practicing mindfulness/yoga, cooking, and hanging at home binge-watching shows with my beagle Boomer. I’m looking forward to working with you all and creating a kind environment for everyone!
Hello Chicago Children’s House, my name Carmen Ruiz, and I could not be more excited to join your family. I am from Indiana and graduated from Purdue Northwest University where I study elementary and special education. During my college career, I worked in a couple daycare settings, I was a nanny, tutor children of all ages, and I even coached high school girls basketball. For my future goals in child care, I plan on pursuing my masters in the upcoming fall semester, and to currently enroll in courses for early childhood. My passion for children and education is the reason I am constantly pushing myself to learn and grow as an educator. My hope is to create a safe, loving, and open environment for children to develop their own unique talents and characters.
Outside my career and education I love to run and read in my free time. I come from a big loving family. My favorite part of my big family is being an aunt to 18 nieces and nephews who mean the world to me. Growing up I was taught to be there for your family, and I hope to continue this into my career here at the Chicago Children’s House.
